Large scale industries like Sun Pharmaceuticals, PUNCOM, Philips, Spice, Idea Cellular Ltd.., Beckons Industries Ltd., Cheema Boilers Limited, Godrej & Boyce, Ecko Cables Ltd, ICI Paints Ltd., Spray Engineering Works, International Switchgears Ltd., etc. are its active members and some of its former presidents have been from these units.
Making a common ground of issues concerning any member industry and addressing it as an issue of common interest, be it in policy matters implementation, labour problems, power problems, civic matters etc.
Mohali Industries Association – an ISO Certified Association represents 600 large, medium and small scale industrial units located in Mohali and its surroundings. The Association was registered in September 1973 with the Registrar of Societies, Chandigarh.
The Association has its own Bhawan and has provision of adequate infrastructure facilities for the industrial fraternity.
MIA provides a link between the industry and the Government for a better understanding and maintains a rapport by holding regular dialogues with departments connected with the industry.
These efforts help in policy advocacy and resolving issues related to the industry pertaining to various departments and provide support to entrepreneurs for hassle free running of their ventures.
The District Industries Centre, SAS Nagar and the Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab work hand in hand to provide solutions to members who are dealing with departments such as PSIEC, Punjab infotech, PSPCL, PUDA, GMADA, Department of Labour, Dept of Skill Development & Industrial training, Punjab Skill Development Mission, ESI Health Services and many more.
On account of its active role in highlighting problems and issues confronting the industry and in keeping a regular dialogue with departments connected with industry, our Association has been nominated on various advisory committees set up by State like GST, Labour, Civic Amenities, Industrial Finance, Export Promotion, Industry Facilitation Council, etc.
Our links with various Educational Institutions provide the required Industry-Academia dialogue and assistance in the area of Research & Development.
MSME-Development Institute Ludhiana in association with MIA holds various knowledge sharing workshops on topics such as IPR & Patents, ZED, NAPS, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Vendor Development Programs and more.
MIA has formed the first Bath Fittings Cluster and Common Facility Centre under the MSE-CDP Scheme of Government of India. 5 Lean Manufacturing Clusters have been completed. Work on the second Cluster for light engineering goods manufacturers under the name of Advance Machining Cluster is continuing.
Our affiliation with GIZ India for providing trainings to members on improving the manufacturing processes through systematic approach. Under this program 16 webinars were held for the members. GIZ India also provided assistance to promote new products with the help of Central Tool Room Ludhiana.
Members have visited various industrial exhibitions in foreign countries since 2008 and the tradition continues.
